As we work to build number sense, we have spent several weeks with place value. We have built numbers with base ten blocks and drawn them. We have practiced with expanded form and writing the numbers. Friday we used Anna DiGilio's Math Tab-its on place value to culminate the unit of study. We will continue to practice the skill in our Math Rotations. A big thanks to Anna for her work on the Tab-it. The kids really enjoyed it. You can find it here on teacherspayteachers.

New Year - New Class
We are three weeks into our year now. The kids are starting to realize the structure and procedures of our day. It is always easier when that happens. It is hard to believe that midterm progress reports go home Friday. We are still hammering out the beginnings of the Daily 5, Guided Math, and Personal Narratives with Lucy Caulkins.
I love my sweet second graders. I alway do fall in love with them and then have to let them go on and fall in love with their third grade teachers the next year. Here the kids are learning to play a math game so they can play it successfully when we go to math rotations.

Welcome New Second Graders
Welcome to my class and our blog. I hope to set this up to be helpful for all of us. This is a learning process for me as well as for you. Hopefully, I will be adding things to our site as I learn more.
